Recently, I have found myself reflecting on the last year and a half or so.  Things have been extremely busy.  I wanted to give a little introduction on some of this stuff because it will impact a lot of what I write about on this blog.

As you know, I am an attorney in South Carolina.  I have a pretty wide practice area including family court issues such as divorce, separations, adoptions, child custody and more.  I also have a heavy IRS tax resolution practice where we assist taxpayers with a large liability owed to the IRS to negotiate a settlement.  There is also a little bit of everything else thrown in on the side.  Needless to say, most days are not full of joyous celebrations when I interview clients for the first time and get to hear extremely sad stories about how their lives are literally falling apart.

My sad story began in December 2006.  I was sworn in to practice law on November 13, 2006 and was working as an associate attorney in a small law firm with one other attorney.  On December 4, 2006, we received the dreaded call that my boss (the other attorney) was being suspended for a period of 9 months.  Therefore, I was taking over a 25 year old law practice with over 200 established clients, two employees, and one month of legal experience.  I was a little stressed.  A lot of my stories will come from the things I learned, the mistakes I made, the relationships that I have built and the stories of the people that I have represented.  Of course, there will not be any mention of names or enough information to determine what a particular case or client is.

I feel like I have learned a lot about lawyering, leadership, being a boss, being an employee, stewardship, management, myself, people and I am extremely excited about sharing that with you.  I am also working as hard as I can to grow closer to my God and Savior Jesus Christ.  He shows me many things and I am excited about telling you about those, especially!
