While reading through the Psalms recently, God spoke to me when I reached Psalm 37: 7:
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him to act.
One of the things that I battle is getting to far out ahead of myself. My mind is always racing and I get impatient wanting things to happen NOW! [...]
If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; Though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. Psalm 37: 23-24.
This really hit me hard this morning as I read it. I began thinking of my 11 month old son who is getting braver and [...]

One of the things I struggle with pretty often is trying to figure out my calling in life. It seems pretty easy for me to look at other people’s lives and see their calling. It’s also pretty easy to look at peopled “called” into the ministry to identify and put some meat on [...]
I’m re-reading Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life, and came across a point that hit home with me - hard - and I’m sure a lot of people just kind of gloss over it and don’t even pay that much attention to it. Pastor Warren is talking about how to worship Almighty God even [...]
A few weeks ago I wrote a post titled, Perseverence is Genius in Disguise, about Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group. It seems like just last week, he was a little bitty thing that couldn’t sit up or crawl or anything and relied [...]
In my Sunday School class this week we were studying Daniel 4, specifically, about King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in which he was described as a great tree described as “enormous, large, and strong.” The tree provided shade and food for all those around it. Then a messenger came and called out that the tree should [...]
I was reading the Bible study recently during a quiet time and came across Phillipians 3: 12-14:
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to [...]
I continued my reading through Nehemiah this morning and got to a chapter that I have been looking forward to (Nehemiah 6). At this time, the Jews had completed the wall, except for installing the gates. And Sanballat and Tobiah continued their antics in trying to prevent Nehemiah and the Jews from completing [...]

In the fifth chapter of Nehemiah, there was an uprising by the Jews to Nehemiah about the hardships they were having to endure, specifically, that they were having to mortgage their land and sell children into slavery just to be able to afford to buy food and pay taxes. Can you imagine that? [...]
