Can You Feel God Around You?

I’m re-reading Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life, and came across a point that hit home with me – hard – and I’m sure a lot of people just kind of gloss over it and don’t even pay that much attention to it.  Pastor Warren is talking about how to worship Almighty God even when he doesn’t feel close to us and how when we are able to do that, we are beginning to worship God is a much deeper way.

Basically, the issue comes down to the difference of God’s omnipresence versus God’s manifestation of His presence.  Said another way, God being there and us actually knowing God is there.  The Purpose Driven Life states, "[God's] ‘presence is too profound to be measured by mere emotion.’"

Thank goodness that God isn’t swayed by my feelings!  Because if you’re like me, your feelings and emotions can change minute by minute/hour by hour and day by day, but "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)."
